Purpose and Aim

To provide underpinning knowledge for yoga.

1.3 Identify how to prepare for yoga.
2. Know the background to yoga.
2.1 Identify the history of yoga.
2.2 Identify how yoga works.
3. Know the benefits of yoga.
3.1 Identify the benefits of yoga.
4. Know the techniques used in yoga.
4.1 Identify the techniques used in yoga.
5. Be able to use yoga techniques.
5.1 In a simulated setting, use yoga techniques.

Assessment Methods:

    There are no prescribed assessment methods for this unit. Assessments used should be fit for purpose for the unit and learners, and generate evidence of achievement for all the assessment criteria.

    Assessment Information:

    AC1.1 Ethical approaches will include the following:

    • health and safety of self
    • health and safety of others
    • hygiene and minimising the spread of infections.

    Assessment of AC 5.1 must only take place in a supervised classroom setting.

    If not specifically stated in the assessment information, a plural statement in any assessment criterion means a minimum of two.

    Assessor Requirements:

    Assessors of this unit must be occupationally competent practitioners of yoga whose qualifications are recognised by the CNHC for voluntary registration purposes, and which meet the standards set by recognised yoga professional bodies.
