Purpose and Aim

To introduce the learner to the skills of make-up application.

1. Know a range of facial make-up products and equipment and their uses.
1.1 Outline the use of a range of make-up products.
1.2 Outline the use of a range of make-up applicators.
1.3 Outline possible beneficial effects of facial make-up.
1.4 Identify the contraindications to make-up.
1.5 Outline the factors that influence the selection of make-up products.
1.6 Outline the importance of good skin care when using make-up products.
2. Be able to use facial make-up products to achieve a desired effect.
2.1 Apply facial make up products to achieve a desired effect with regard to:

  • selection of make-up
  • technique of application
  •  hygiene
  •  safe and correct use of make-up products.

Assessment Methods:

    There are no prescribed assessment methods for this unit. Assessments used should be fit for purpose for the unit and learners, and generate evidence of achievement for all the assessment criteria.

    Assessment Information:

    AC 1.1 A minimum of 5 products, for example mascara, blusher.
    AC 1.2 A minimum of 3 applicators.
    AC 1.5 A minimum of 3 factors.
    AC 2.1 A minimum of 5 different products.

    Assessor Requirements:
