Purpose and Aim:


The learner will: The learner can:
1.  Choose reading material (e.g., song lyrics) and respond to what has been read.
1.1 Select and read two pieces of text, identifying the main theme of each.
1.2 Identify words and phrases that use rhyme or alliteration or which create atmosphere.
1.3 Identify the meaning of unfamiliar words in a dictionary.
1.4 Express clearly to others the reasons for your choices.
2.  Produce a piece of creative writing.
2.1 Identify methods of generating ideas for writing.
2.2 Use reference sources (e.g., rhyming dictionary, thesaurus) to develop vocabulary.
2.3 Use language suitable for purpose and audience to produce a written draft.
2.4 Proofread and revise writing.
2.5 Present to the group as a performance or as a piece of writing.
3.  Read, estimate and measure length in order to design a CD cover.
3.1 Estimate length and width of a CD cover.
3.2 Use an appropriate instrument to measure dimensions of CD cover.
3.3 Produce an accurate drawing of two squares to represent back and front covers.
3.4 Use drawings to draft a design.
4.  Know how to present information appropriate to the audience.
4.1 Participate in a discussion about what written information is required for front and back covers of a CD.
4.2 Present information in a logical sequence.
5.  Produce and evaluate design.
5.1 Use appropriate materials, including ICT, to produce final designs and wording for CD covers.
5.2 Speak clearly to present information and ideas to group.
5.3 Listen to feedback and respond to questions.
