Purpose and Aim:


The learner will: The learner can:
1.  Use polite social conventions and simple structures appropriate to the context. (S1.1, S1.2)
1.1 Combine and use simple structures and commonly used expressions
1.2 Demonstrate a range of appropriate courtesies using formal and informal language, for example, address, greet and take leave, give compliments, apologise.
1.3 Express difficulty and request appropriate action, for example, repeating or slowing down.
1.4 Use appropriate pronunciation.
2.  Understand and request simple information about places. (S1.2, L1.2)
2.1 Identify at least six places, for example round the town, and their locations.
2.2 Request directions to a place, asking whether it is far away.
2.3 For each of at least two places, identify the location by following at least three simple directions.
2.4 Ask for information about at least two places.
2.5 Give at least one requirement for each.
2.6 Identify at least two pieces of information given, for example, opening times, facilities or attractions, etc., for each.
3.  Understand and give simple information related to services and problems. (S1.2, L1.2)
3.1 Ask for help from another person.
3.2 Outline a simple, typical problem or complaint.
3.3 Ask for basic information about an urgent need, for example a doctor, chemist or other emergency facility.
3.4 Identify at least two pieces of information given in response.
3.5 Request general and specific information about at least two services or facilities, for example, means of transport, leisure activities, excursions etc.
3.6 Identify at least two pieces of information given in response to each.
